  • Where is Trail Lake Lodge located?
    • We are centrally located In Moose Pass between Seward and Cooper Landing on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula.

    • We are 95 miles south of Anchorage, 30 miles north of Seward and 17 miles east of Cooper Landing.

  • Am I a good candidate to work in Moose Pass for the summer season?
    • A good fit is someone who is looking for a unique experience with good people in a rural lakeside and mountainous setting 30 miles from the next larger town.

    • We are looking for team players who are willing to go above and beyond to get the job done.

    • Good candidates know how to work hard, but also like to play hard. They are motivated by outdoor activities such as hiking on the numerous nearby trails, canoeing, fishing, animal viewing or photography. Oh, we also have our share of live music at the lodge too!

  • Is there on-site employee housing?
    • We offer private and shared rooms on the Trail Lake Lodge property.

    • Employee residence rooms are laid out essentially dormitory style, with a common hallway, common sitting area and shared bathrooms (one male, one female) and free laundry facilities. Each room has either a double bed or two twin-size beds, a TV, WiFi and desk.

    • The cost for employee housing is $8/day for a shared room and $15/day for a private room. Please note that private rooms may not always be available. Rent will be automatically deducted from your bi-weekly paycheck. (2020 Employee Housing Fee has been waived until further notice!)

  • Can I bring my pet, please, pretty please?
    • This one hurts us! As much as we want to say yes, we just can't. We love having dogs and cats around the place, and there are a few employees who live here year round that have them, but alas, we can not support more pets if you're going to be utilizing our employee housing.

  • How much does each position pay?
    • Pay for each position is DOE. Our compensation and benefits package includes discounted meals, discounted merchandise, and an end of season retention bonus. Servers/Bartenders are eligible to earn tips from customers.

  • How will I get to Moose Pass at the beginning of the season?
    • We make every effort to coordinate employee arrivals to enable shuttling staff in groups from the airport to Moose Pass ourselves. If we’re not able to accommodate your particular arrival date, you’ll need to arrange your own transportation to the lodge.  There are two bus lines that run daily from Anchorage with a drop off at Moose Pass.

  • How will I get around during the summer?
    • A shuttle van generally makes the trip to Seward once each week in the summer season. Staff are always welcome to ride along. Other options often used by staff include biking or catching a ride with a fellow co-worker.

  • Where will I eat?
    • We offer meals in our restaurant at a discounted rate to employees.

    • One meal per shift while on duty is offered at a 50% discount from the menu price and off duty meals are offered at 25% off the menu price.

    • There is also a full kitchen in the employee housing common area and a small grocery store & deli across the street so that staff can prepare their own meals as desired. (The local grocery is closed for 2020 so we're offering grocery runs to Seward and Anchorage.)

  • How many hours would I work in a typical week?
    • The basic work week is considered to be 40 hours. However, this is not a guarantee of hours.

    • Our work schedules center around the hours we are open for business, approximately 7am to 11pm plus special events.

  • How many days a week will I work?
    • We recognize the value and importance of time off to each of our staff members. Every effort is made to schedule employees with two days off each week. We won't always be able to offer consecutive days off, but we try to as often as we can!

  • When will I need to arrive at Trail Lake Lodge and when does the season wrap up?
    • The summer tourism season typically begins in early to mid May and extends through the end of September. We ask that you are available to work for the entirety of the season.

  • Is there a minimum age required for working at the lodge?
    • Out-of-state employees must be 21 years of age or older upon the start of work due to our potential needs to be able to cross-train employees for our wait-service and bartending positions.

    • All applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States and provide appropriate documentation supporting this as required under law before beginning employment.

  • How many people work at the lodge and restaurant?
    • Typical total employment during the summer season averages 20 to 25 employees.

  • What is our philosophy with our staff?
    • Our focus is one that demonstrates respect for the employee as a person, recognizes the talents of the individual in a team oriented system, that fosters trust, confidence and openness, and that offers challenge, opportunity and rewards for hard work and exceptional performance. We become a tight knit community throughout the summer; we enjoy our work and like to have fun while working. We want our staff to enjoy themselves, both on and off the job.

  • What is our philosophy with our customers?
